Tutoring Services and Study Skills

Tutorial Services & Study Skills Program Purpose

The Office of Minority Affairs, Tutoring Program, provides free supplemental programs and services to support the academic success of students served by the Office of Minority Affairs and enrolled at The Ohio State University. 

Tutorial Services 

One on one, group tutoring, and walk-in tutoring is available for many lower level general education courses autumn, winter, spring, and summer quarters.The office begins accepting tutor requests two weeks before the start of each quarter.  The deadline to request a tutor is always the second Friday of each quarter.  All students registered for classes at The Ohio State University at the time of their request may obtain a tutor. Priority assignment is given to students funded by the Office of Minority Affairs.

Study & Review Materials
Students may access study and review materials via our online request form.  Resources are available for most introductory undergraduate courses.

Study Skills Program 
The study skills component of Tutorial Services offers supplemental study and review sessions, study skills workshops, and individualized study skills assistance.

Supplemental Study and Review Sessions 
Students seeking the opportunity to review course material for midterm and final exams in a structured study environment may elect to attend study and review sessions. Sessions are organized by Tutorial Services’ Study Skills Specialist and facilitated by tutors.

Workshops and Individualized Assistance 
Throughout the academic year students have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops to enhance study skills and address deficiencies. Quarterly workshops cover various topics including learning styles, time management, note taking, reading skills, and test taking strategies. Students may also meet individually with the Study Skills Specialist who will assess their needs and make recommendations for improvement.
